ENJOY THE MAGIC OF LIFE

I don’t know about you, but the full moon had me like woo on the 27th. I wanted to do something special for this full moon, and I had never done a full moon ceremony before, so I figured why the heck not. I’m in Greece and felt like doing something special to honor this portion of my journey and growth. So I spent the day gathering the things I needed: sage, a lighter, candle and notebook.

Then I found a cafe and reflected on what I wanted to release today because full moons are a time when we can release what no longer serves us. I was reflecting on the below questions that I found in an article on Numerologist.com.

  • What stops me from shining?
  • What silences me?
  • What am I afraid of?
  • Why do I feel unworthy?
  • What am I thinking about constantly?
  • What am I feeling constantly?
  • Why am I thinking these thoughts?
  • Why am I feeling these feelings?

Then I created a statement about my ideal emotional and mental state based on reflection of the below questions.

  • What thoughts do I want to think?
  • What feelings do I want to feel?
  • What nourishes me emotionally?
  • What nourishes me mentally?
  • When do I feel good, expansive, fluid?
  • When do I think clear, and creatively?

I chose 5 things I wanted to release based on what I wrote and then used the statement for my ceremony.

While in conversation with a store owner earlier in the day, I learned where the closest “beach” was - up the hill, past St. Nicholas Church and then down the hill. I arrived and it ended up being a rocky beach, so no sand. Not ideally what I had in mind, but it would suffice.

About an hour before the moon was at its highest peak I found my spot on the rocks, began centering myself, meditated, listened to some music and then began my ceremony.

And boy, was my world rocked this night. I had a very sacred experience during the ceremony and received some powerful insights. As I was sitting on the rocks reflecting on the experience, I heard a voice.

“Now go enjoy the magic of life.”

It was so loud and clear I couldn’t ignore it (I’m getting chills again as I’m writing this actually).

“Go enjoy the magic of life.”

I smiled. Looked up. I brought my hands together in a prayer position, closed my eyes, shed a few tears and expressed gratitude for being here in this moment and having had this experience.

What I loved about this message was the choice of words.

MAGIC.

I’ve noticed I use the word magic more and more often in my vocabulary. And it’s because I can now see magic AND feel it all around me.

I met a Metaphysician named Wonder Bob (no joke, that’s what people call him) in Crestone, CO while on my road trip earlier this year. He told me I had the ability to see magic in things that others couldn’t. In the moment I laughed and was like, “Okayyyyy. Who is this guy and what is he talking about?” And my friend and I laughed about it and I brushed it off because he also told me that because of the shape of my ears I was part dragon and avatar (this is a true story, folks). So I acquired the nickname Magical Dragon Queen (MDQ for short) by some friends thanks to Mr. Wonder Bob.

In all seriousness though, I never forgot what Wonder Bob told me and I think about it often. I now know very clearly what he means about “seeing the magic.”

As we become adults, we constrict our child-like curiosity, awe and wonder because of cultural and societal conditioning. The good news is it’s absolutely possible to reignite. I know this because I’m living proof that it’s possible.

You see, we’re surrounded by magic everywhere we look. You can see it in the intricacies and beauty of nature, the process of creation and even how we can take a coffee bean and turn it into a liquid drink that tastes like heaven.

I see magic in the ocean as the waves form and then return to the sea. I see magic when I look at the inside of a fig. Magic in watching ants on the ground as they scurry around carrying things that have to be 20 times their weight. Magic in the smile I get from a stranger. Magic in the sound of laughter. Magic in the feeling I get when a butterfly lands on me. I could keep going on and on, but I think you get what I mean.

I’ve learned to see magic in things I once never appreciated and you can too.

So how do you do this? Start by practicing mindfulness. Once we’re present and still, the magic will unfold. If we’re moving at the speed of light all the time, it’s harder to recognize.

With the weather being nice, start by spending 20 minutes outside. You can sit on your porch, go for a walk or visit the park on your way home from work. Notice all the sensory experiences that surround you. Write a few down every time you do this so you don’t forget these moments. Pretty soon you’ll see beauty without intentionally trying. It becomes a new habit. See how you feel after you do this a few times and feel free to share your experience on the Facebook page or send me an email letting me know. I’d love to hear from you!

Now stop reading and go enjoy the magic of life.

Sending much love to you today and always!
